Bingo vs Joker: two fuel gates

Joker tells a formation when to begin separating from the task; Bingo protects the fuel required for recovery.

Bingo and Joker are not competing words for “low fuel.” They are two different decision points.

Bingo is the fuel state set to protect recovery. Reaching it means the aircraft needs to leave the current task and follow the recovery plan with the required reserve still intact.

Joker sits above Bingo. It is the earlier trigger to begin separation, bug out or terminate an event before the formation consumes the margin that protects recovery.

In a simulator, setting both values turns fuel from a gauge you glance at into a plan you can act on: Joker ends the work; Bingo preserves the way home.
